Text Masking in V8
by Lynne Taylor - 01 July 2002
Text in MicroStation V8 supports masking. This means that a polygon is placed around the text with the same colour as the background, blanking out what's behind it. When you place text on top of vector and/or raster information, the area around the text is masked, making the text much more readable.
To enable text masking, switch on the Background option in the Text Style dialogue box (Element > Text Styles) and set the background fill and border colour accordingly.
The Background Border X and Y settings allow you to set the distance the masking extends beyond the text.
The masking is an attribute of the text, so when the text is moved or deleted, the mask goes with it!
